Attention: the steps below are required to apply for Grinnell College funded financial aid. If you wish to only apply for federally funded financial aid, such as the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Work-study, and the Federal Direct Student Loan, you only need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Types of Financial Aid

Grinnell provides financial aid awards using a combination of grants, loans, and campus jobs. The two primary types of aid at Grinnell are "gift" (scholarships and grants) and "self help" (loans and work). While the majority of your institutional need will be met with scholarships and grants, most of our financial aid packages combine gift aid with self help. Financial aid awards may be adjusted when you receive additional outside sources of funding.

Federal Student Aid PIN Replaced by FSA ID

All Federal Student Aid (FSA) websites are now requiring an FSA ID. The FSA ID – a username and password – has replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN and must be used to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education websites. Your FSA ID confirms your identity when you access your financial aid information and electronically sign Federal Student Aid documents.
