Grinnell, Iowa - Shopping at the Pioneer Bookshop throughout December helps support the Grinnell High School library. The bookshop is donating 10 percent of all sales this month to the GHS library.
Cassie Wherry, manager of the College Bookstore and Pioneer Bookshop, said she hopes this year's promotion will generate $2,000 for the GHS library. That's $280 more than the $1,720 the school library received through last year's promotion.
“We, at the Pioneer Bookshop, are delighted to be promoting reading at the high school level by providing funds to help expand the school library's collection through this annual promotion," Wherry added.
"These funds have a great impact on our library and our students," said GHS librarian Chelsey Kolpin. "With the funds generated this year, I plan to continue to add to series that are popular with students and to expand our e-book and audiobook collections. There has been a significant increase in students' demand for these materials, both for class and for personal use."
