Strategic Plan Update, February 2012

During fall semester 2011, after poring over hundreds of ideas and suggestions offered by the Grinnell College community, the strategic planning working groups developed the following material for consideration by the strategic plan steering committee. The committee will draw from this list to develop strategic themes and further develop a subset of ideas that will be pursued in the strategic plan.

New Faces in the Libraries

We welcome two new Library Research Tutors this spring: Meg Rudy '14 (undeclared) and Liz Holmes '13 (Psychology). Liz, Meg and our returning tutors – Kim Steele, Biva Rajbhandari, Victoria Vertilo and Mateo Jarquin – will provide research tips and strategies online and at Burling's Research Desk. Actor Emily Bergl ’97 — LIVE!

Emily Bergl ’97 may be Hollywood’s most famous Grinnellian actor of her generation. Perhaps best known as Annie O’Donnell in the television show Men in Trees, Beth Young in Desperate Housewives, and Tammy Bryant in the drama series Southland, she’s also acted in movies and on stage and made guest appearances on many popular TV series.

Award winners span the globe

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners of national scholarships, fellowships and grants! Grinnellians secured three Watson fellowships, a Davis Project for Peace award, two Barry Goldwater scholarships, and seven Fulbright grants, for a total of 13 awards. These winners continue the long-standing tradition of Grinnell students securing prestigious awards to support their studies.
