During fall semester 2011, after poring over hundreds of ideas and suggestions offered by the Grinnell College community, the strategic planning working groups developed the following material for consideration by the strategic plan steering committee. The committee will draw from this list to develop strategic themes and further develop a subset of ideas that will be pursued in the strategic plan.

Where in the world were Grinnell faculty and students this summer?
China, Korea, France,Italy, Poland, Namibia,Romania, to name a few sites of international scholarly activity. Additional examples may be sent to Cindy Deppefor followup stories.
Emily Bergl ’97 may be Hollywood’s most famous Grinnellian actor of her generation. Perhaps best known as Annie O’Donnell in the television show Men in Trees, Beth Young in Desperate Housewives, and Tammy Bryant in the drama series Southland, she’s also acted in movies and on stage and made guest appearances on many popular TV series.
A myth in the outside world is that “nothing happens on campus in the summer.” So to dispel that myth, we’ve shown below a nominal sampling of scholarly activity taking place during the lazy, hazy days in Grinnell. Additional campus examples may be sent to Cindy Deppe for followup stories.
All Over the Campus: MAPs
Congratulations to all of this year’s winners of national scholarships, fellowships and grants! Grinnellians secured three Watson fellowships, a Davis Project for Peace award, two Barry Goldwater scholarships, and seven Fulbright grants, for a total of 13 awards.
