Post Grad Service Opportunities

"I know I want to go to grad school eventually but first I want to take some time off."

Does that sound like you? Sometimes Grinnell students say something like this as they are thinking about life after graduation, and the appeal of "time off" after four intensive years is obvious. This section of the website is designed to give you some ways to think about how you might spend the first year or two after you finish your Grinnell education.

Grinnell Corps

As part of its historic commitment to social justice and responsibility, and in an attempt to match the talents and idealism of our students with the needs of our local and global communities, Grinnell College has created the Grinnell Corps: an opportunity for new graduates to join one of six one-year, post-graduation service programs.

Civic Engagement

Grinnell’s Service Learning and Civic Engagement Program is an outgrowth of the college’s long history of social responsibility, reflecting our belief that quality civic engagement addresses the common good while providing transformational experiential learning. This program encourages you to participate more actively in your education while making a difference in the community. You’ll enhance your overall sense of wellbeing and civic purpose, deepen your understanding of classroom learning, and develop transferrable professional skills.
