Doug Badger Grinnell has appointed Doug Badger as director of admission, effective August 3, 2009. Badger, an admission consultant and former administrator at Middlebury College, will provide leadership and supervision to the Grinnell admission staff and manage the day-to-day office operations. Badger was selected following a national search and will report to Seth Allen, dean of admission and financial aid who joined Grinnell in 2007.
A graduate of Middlebury and the University of Idaho, Badger taught at Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C., before beginning his career in higher education as an educational specialist at Boise State University and the University of Vermont. He joined the Middlebury admission staff in 1996 and held several enrollment leadership positions, including director of admission systems and operations and chair of the college-wide enrollment committee. In 2007, Badger founded Alpine Education Advisors, an independent college counseling and institutional systems consulting firm in Nampa, Idaho.
"Doug brings significant admission and enrollment experience to Grinnell that will help us further our ambitions as one of the country's leading liberal arts colleges," Allen said. Badger will assume responsibilities previously held by interim director Nancy Maly '61, an admission staff member for more than 20 years.
