Belinda Backous
Assistant Dean for Academic Success
Belinda (she/her/hers) joined Grinnell College in 2014. Her work and passions revolve around supporting students in their learning and life goals. As a licensed social worker, she brings a social justice orientation to her work, as well as understanding of and appreciation for the developmental tasks of the emerging adults that she is privileged to serve. Belinda directs the Partners in Education program, which provides robust academic support to students who can most benefit. She teaches ASC 101, Scholars' Seminar, a course about the science (and art) of learning. As a core member of the Academic Advising team, Belinda also spends much of her time meeting with students one on one, consulting with faculty and staff partners, and promoting academic success campus-wide.
