Zina Ibrahim earned her B.A. in biology from Grinnell College in May 2017.

While a student at Grinnell, Ibrahim participated in the Grinnell Science Project and worked closely with biology professor Shannon Hinsa-Leasure on Mentored Advanced Projects investigating the ability of copper alloys to reduce the bacterial burden associated with high-touch athletic center equipment. She presented her research findings at the American Society for Microbiology Microbe Conference in Boston in 2016.

She is taking a gap year before applying to medical school, where she plans to pursue a career in academic medicine.
