Jason Malek was raised in the town of Duncan, Iowa.  He attended North Iowa Area Community College. He received his A.A. in Liberal Arts with Law Enforcement Core, along with his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.  Jason also earned a diploma as a Computer Service Technician from Hamilton College, and his B.S. in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Upper Iowa University.  He began working for Grinnell College in 2017.  Jason is married and has four children. In his free time, Jason enjoys playing golf, riding his motorcycle, completing home improvement ideas that he or his wife initiate, and spending time with his family.

During his time here, Jason notes that his favorite parts about the College are its history, and the atmosphere that surrounds the campus.

Officer Malek’s primary responsibility at Grinnell College is ensuring the safety of the campus community through patrol operations, incident response, and calls for service. His goal is to ensure all have a safe environment to learn, teach, and work.

The department of Campus Safety, 641-269-4600, plans and implements safety operations, programs, and initiatives in support of the College’s mission and vision. Located on the corner of East Street and 10th Avenue, Campus Safety is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when school is not in session.
