Nick is new to Grinnell this year; he just completed his PhD from the University of Iowa this summer. This year he is teaching Calculus and Combinatorics.
His work lies in the intersection of algebra and combinatorics. He is particularly interested in the representation theory of the symmetric group. This field uses combinatorial objects like Young tableaux to obtain algebraic information like vector space dimension.
Nick lives in Iowa City with his wife, Amber. In his free time, he enjoys getting outdoors, drinking coffee, or experimenting with fermentation.
