    Upcoming Programs

    Grinnell College Museum of Art has a full array of programs year-round to enrich the experience of art-viewing and art-making for both campus and community. All events are in the Museum of Art or adjacent spaces unless otherwise noted.

    The Museum is free and open to all.

    Regular Hours

    Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

    Thursday evenings until 8 p.m.

    Saturday and Sunday 1–5 p.m.

Summer 2024 Events

Ingrid Lilligren: Gallery Tour and Reception

Tuesday, June 11, 5–7 p.m.

Join artist Ingrid Lilligren for a tour of her exhibition, Tactile Meditations, which explores her incorporation of Braille to explore social, cultural, and political blindness. She will share her inspiration and the making process for selected pieces. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions. Tour begins at 5:15 with a reception to follow.

Yoga in the Museum

Tuesdays, June 11–Sept. 3, 12:15–12:50 p.m.

Enjoy a free 30-minute yoga practice with Joy Jones. Open to all levels, mats provided. Co-sponsored by Live Well Grinnell.

GCMoA Activity Bags

Fridays, June 14–July 26, noon

Grinnell College Museum of Art & Drake Community Library

Activity bags are back! Each bag contains a reproduction of an artwork and coloring pages from GCMoA’s collection and exhibitions, an activity guide that will get you making art, writing, and/or cooking, and the art supplies you need to complete a project.

Storytime Art in the Park

Grinnell College Museum of Art and Drake Library are offering free hands-on art and literacy activities for children and families in area parks. Every session will offer drawing, 2 and 3-D collage projects, beading, truck glittering, painting, bookmaking, type-a-thon, and reading activities. Additionally, a special project from ceramics, printmaking, marbling, sewing, wood cutouts, tie-dye, or another activity will be offered at each session. No registration is necessary. Supported by Grinnell Education Partnership, Grinnell Mutual, and AmeriCorps.

Lunch will be served by The Iowa Kitchen at 11:45 on Tuesdays. 40 meals served on a first-come first-served basis. Middleway Farms will have free produce and MICA will have food items to take home as well. This program is supported by grants and support from the Greater Poweshiek County Community Foundation/Poweshiek County Alliance and Grinnell Farm to Table.

Artist Ingrid Lilligren will talk about the history of her work, which explores her incorporation of Braille to explore social, cultural, and political blindness. She will share her inspiration and the making process for selected pieces. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions. Debra Marquart, Distinguished Professor in Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University and outgoing Poet Laureate of Iowa will read poems included in Lilligren’s works.
