Fleet Vehicles and Driver Training
Grinnell College owns fleet vehicles that can be used for College-related business by approved College drivers, which includes faculty, staff, students, and volunteers. Drivers must complete the approval process, as directed by Facilities Management, in order to reserve a fleet vehicle. Please contact Facilities Management for information regarding this process.
Fleet vehicles are picked up and returned to the Campus Safety parking lot. Drivers must present a valid driver’s license when checking out a fleet vehicle.
Trailways Bus Service provides regular route service between Omaha, NE and Chicago, IL. This route has a pick-up and drop-off location at Grinnell College in front of the Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center. Enterprise rentals can be picked up and returned to the Campus Safety Parking Lot. Additional fees may apply for pick-up and drop-off at this location. Please contact the rental office in Marshalltown or visit the Enterprise website for reservations.
People Rides provides transportation services to everyone, regardless of age, income, or disability. Their vehicles are handicap accessible to serve the diverse needs of their clients. The People Rides public transit service provides convenient, low-cost transportation for trips that either originate or end in Hardin, Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama counties. Trips can be for work, medical appointments, shopping, education, social, or any other transportation need.

*The subsidized vouchers (tickets) purchased at the Department of Campus Safety are not eligible for individual transportation arrangements made following the aforementioned process.
People Rides provides scheduled service to Grinnell College via its Southside Shuttle route – Grinnell. The pick-up and drop-off location for this service is in front of the Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center. Round-trip tickets can be purchased at the Campus Safety Office located at 1432 East Street for $3.00.
The Southside Shuttle route operates Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and provides service to Hy-Vee and Walmart. The first shuttle departs at 9:15 AM and returns to campus at 11:15 Am and the second shuttle departs at 10:30 AM and returns to campus at 12:15 PM.
