Writer-in-Residence Program

The Writer-in-Residence Program

The Writer-in-Residence program has been sponsored by the German department for more than 25 years. A visiting writer from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland teaches the annual spring short course Recent Trends in German Literature (GRM 372). When the program started, it was designed to give German students an opportunity to learn about East German literature. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, its focus has shifted to the thriving literary scene in German-speaking countries.  any authors enjoy their visits and come back, some of them multiple times.
