Spring 2022 Global Learning Program

2022 First-Year GLP: New and Emerging Infectious Diseases by Shannon Hinsa and David Campbell

The most immediate environmental danger facing humanity today is not war, not political upheaval, but pandemic disease. This GLP tutorial examined new and emerging infectious diseases and the interfaces — ecological, cultural, and agricultural — between zoonoses and humans, as well as the ecotones — urban and rural, terrestrial, and — where these saltations are taking place. The program included spring break travels to South Africa and in May to Hawaii.

2022 Upper-Level GLP: The Power of the American Journey II: Social Justice and the Olympic Movement by Will Freeman and Kesho Scott.

The Power of the American Journey II: Social Justice and the Olympic Movements was an interdisciplinary examination of the American athletic experience in the Olympic Games. This GLP investigated personal journeys through multi-disciplinary tools such as autobiographies, popular culture, film, scholarly essays, historical original documents, photography, and storytelling about the lived experience, and included embedded travel to Greece and Germany during spring break.
