Think that volunteering is a privilege you can’t afford? Think again.
Open to all students eligible to work on campus, Service Learning Work-Study (SLWS) provides students with paid, community-driven service opportunities in local nonprofit and governmental organizations. These positions not only serve the community, but they also allow you to explore your civic interests.
What will I get to do as an SLWS student?
You will be able to help with your community partner’s everyday activities, as well as with special projects and events.
You will be able to serve as a link between your partner organization and the larger Grinnell College community, sponsoring activities and events that raise awareness about issues important to your community partner and encouraging additional campus engagement.
You will be part of the SLWS campus community, where you may reflect and collaborate with other SLWS students.
You will have access to specialized, paid professional and educational opportunities.
You will have access to a co-working space where you may continue work begun at your work-site.
SLWS positions are posted in Handshake at the beginning of each semester. Additional information about Service Learning Work-Study is available on GrinnellShare (secure login required) and in the Service Learning Work-Study Student Handbook.
