Symptomatic

  1. Call SHAW: 641-269-3230
    • After hours, call Campus Safety at 641-269-4600.
  2. Antigen Test
    1. Negative: Continue to Molecular Test (PCR, LAMP)
    2. Positive: Isolate(2) for at least 5 full days, return after no fever (without fever-reducing medications) for the prior 24 hours, and symptoms improving.
  3. Molecular Test (PCR,LAMP)
    1. Negative: Continue proper use of masks and hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, resume classes as health permits, and dine to-go. SHAW will provide ongoing care and consultation.
    2. Positive: Isolate(2) for at least 5 full days, return after no fever (without fever-reducing medications) for the prior 24 hours, and symptoms improving.

Asymptomatic and Exposed(1)

  • Call SHAW: 641-269-3230
    • Not fully-vaccinated(3) or have received a vaccine/booster exemption:
      • Isolate for 5 full days
      • Monitor symptoms
      • Molecular test day 5
        • Negative: Continue normal activities
        • Positive: Isolate for at least 5 full days, return after no fever (without fever-reducing medications) for the prior 24 hours, and symptoms improving.
    • Fully-vaccinated(3)
      • Resume normal activities and monitor symptoms
      • Molecular test day 5
        • Negative: Continue normal activities
        • Positive: Isolate(2) for at least 5 full days, return after no fever (without fever-reducing medications) for the prior 24 hours, and symptoms improving.
  1. Exposure is when you have had close contact with a confirmed positive (within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more cumulative in a 24-hour period without a mask).
  2. The COVID Care Team will work with you to make isolation arrangements.
  3. Fully-vaccinated means that you have received the recommended doses and boosters in the recommended timeframes. See CDC Vaccine guidance.

Note: With the high communicability of Omicron, it may not be possible to isolate individuals in single rooms. If the case count is high, we will room students who are positive and symptomatic together.
