Modified Blue Campus Activity Level

The past several days has brought an increase in the number of students testing positive for COVID-19. We have taken additional proactive steps now to reinforce public health protocols on campus.

Shifts to the Modified Blue Activity Level have made to limit indoor communal eating, except in the student dining hall.

  • Any food items planned for events must now be take-away only unless dining outside.
  • Anyone planning an event that may fall outside the current policies around indoor eating, or may need guidance on planning alternative options for their event, may contact the event proposal committee.
  • Employees: Eating indoors in groups is no longer allowed. Employees may unmask briefly to eat in their workspaces.
  • Masking remains a highly effective means of preventing infection; please continue to mask! Stay home if you are ill. In addition to COVID-19, flu and strep throat are being reported in many Iowa communities. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms refer to the student protocols or employee protocols for more information on testing and isolation requirements.

COVID Boosters

The CDC has expanded eligibility for an additional booster dose for certain individuals who may be at higher risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19. Employees may use the COVID time-off allocation for vaccine appointments if needed or for time missed due to immune response. Please use the code SIOF within NOVAtime for this type of leave.

A list of testing options for faculty, staff, and students can be found here. Students experiencing mild symptoms can visit the SHAW walk-in clinic Monday–Friday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Those with more severe symptoms should contact SHAW 641-269-3230 to schedule an appointment. After hours, contact Campus Safety.
