Weekly COVID-19 Testing Clinic Update: Dec. 21

December 21, 2020

Dear Grinnellians,

SHAW cares deeply about your health and the health of our community. This will be the last edition of the update for 2020. I hope that your holiday is pleasant, healthy and restorative.

We are proud of the commitment our students, faculty, and staff are making every day to prevent transmission. We are heartened by the compassion and support that members of this community give each other. Thank you for doing your part in keeping our community safe!

A variant of the virus has been identified and is being reported on, notably in England. While thus far not resistant to the vaccine, this variant seems to be able to spread even more rapidly. Pandemic precautions will be more important than ever in the coming weeks; thank you for your sustained care for community health.

Testing Clinic Hours of Operation for the Week of December 21, 2020

To help ensure all staff are tested and their results back prior to the College closing early on Dec. 23rd, we are rescheduling any staff who would have regularly tested on Wednesday the 23rd to the 21st or 22nd. SHAW will coordinate any emergent testing that is needed for our students who are traveling internationally and need a PCR test 48-72 hours prior to travel, or for anyone who is feeling symptomatic prior to the College closing at noon on Dec. 23rd. These appointments must be coordinated through SHAW directly.

Concerned About Those Who Increase Risk Due to Non-Compliance?

Most members of our community do a terrific job of following public health guidelines, but occasionally, some may put the community at risk due to non-compliance. As a reminder, Grinnell College urges you to utilize EthicsPoint to anonymously report observed PPE or other public health policy non-compliance issues. This information will help us understand how to better support our campus community with ongoing education and outreach opportunities.

To Your Health,
