 We often receive questions about items students should/shouldn’t bring with them.

Leave at home:

  • Air conditioners
  • Alcohol and other drugs
  • Anything with an exposed heating element
  • Anything with an open flame
  • Candles and candle warmers (eg. Scentsy)
  • Coffee pots without an automatic shut-off feature (brands like Keurig with enclosed heating elements are okay)
  • Contact paper
  • Dry-erase/memo boards are prohibited on room doors (every door already has one!)
  • Fireworks
  • Flammable liquids
  • George Foreman-style grills
  • Grills or griddles
  • Halogen floor lamps
  • Hoverboards
  • Incense
  • Irons without auto shut off features
  • Lava lamps
  • Mattress from home
  • Outdoor antennas or satellite dishes
  • Pets other than fish (see our Pet Policy)
  • Space heaters
  • Spider/multi-arm floor lamps
  • Sub-woofers
  • Toasters/toaster ovens
  • Waterbeds and water-filled furniture
  • Weapons (including paintball guns, airsoft guns, martial arts weapons, knives, etc.)
