Coronavirus Outbreak and China Travel
Dear Grinnell students, faculty, and staff,
You have likely been reading about the coronavirus outbreak in China. We are thankful that there have been no reports of any Grinnell students being sickened by the coronavirus, and currently, there are no Grinnell students studying in China.
The health threat is growing more serious, as is our concern for doing as much as possible to keep Grinnellians safe from this outbreak. Recently, the U.S. Department of State has issued a level 3 travel advisory for all of China and a level 4 advisory for Hubie province. The Centers for Disease Control has also raised its health alert warning to “Level 3, Avoid Nonessential Travel.”
In order to help keep all of our students, faculty, and staff safe from this dangerous virus, we have determined it is in everyone’s best interest that we suspend travel to China for the foreseeable future.
Please know that Grinnell’s commitment to global learning remains strong. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated.
