Grinnell College Hosts Second Dose COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic
Grinnell College is hosting a second dose COVID-19 vaccination clinic for individuals who were vaccinated with their first dose at the vaccination clinic held on campus April 7 and 8. Individuals attending will be asked to present their vaccine card from that first clinic at the check-in table for verification.
WHO: ONLY those who attended the first vaccine clinic held on campus are eligible to register and attend this second vaccine clinic. This is due in part to the vaccine allotment and distribution of the vaccine per HyVee. If you forwarded this link to family and household members or other off-campus contacts who took advantage of the first vaccine clinic, please forward this information on to them again so they can get registered for their second dose.
WHAT: Second Dose COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic using the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

WHERE: Darby Gymnasium in Bear Athletic Center; parking is available across the street.
HOW TO REGISTER:
- Follow this link to register - Registration will close at noon on Saturday, April 24.

You will be able to indicate if you do not have insurance on the registration form. The vaccine is free, and you are not required to have insurance to receive the vaccine.
What to expect at your appointment:
- Bring your vaccine card to this clinic so it can be updated with the second vaccine date.
- Wear a mask and short sleeves/garments that will allow exposure of your upper arm.
Campus leaders support employees and student's choice to be vaccinated and request supervisors and faculty to provide flexibility in scheduling to accommodate appointments and immune response time off. Employees may remain clocked-in for vaccine appointments if needed and may also utilize their COVID time-off allocation for missed days due to immune response.
If you need help getting registered:
A sign-up help desk will be available in the Natatorium Lobby from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 22. Please bring your insurance card if you have one and your vaccine card.
Frequently Asked Questions
What changes after my second dose?
While you are on your way to being better protected, the CDC recommends that after you’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you should keep taking precautions in public places, such as wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces until we know more. Immunity doesn't fully develop until 14 days after the second dose.
Why is Grinnell College partnering with Hy-Vee to host this clinic?
Thank you to Deb Shill and the SHAW team for their coordination of this vaccination clinic. Campus community vaccination will help us keep each other safer and help move us toward opportunities for increased in-person activities. The College’s partnership with Hy-Vee to vaccinate employees and students will efficiently vaccinate many people in a short period of time, which will alleviate the high demand for appointments through the public health department and allow more opportunities for Grinnell community members to receive the vaccine.
