Shoppers at the downtown Grinnell College Pioneer Bookshop will support Grinnell High School students during December, when 10% of all sales will be donated to the GHS library.

The Pioneer Bookshop, which combined the campus bookshop with a small downtown bookstore, opened in a larger location in July at 933 Main St., Grinnell.

"Since our move to downtown Grinnell, local readers have been frequenting the store more often," said Cassie Wherry, manager of the Pioneer Bookshop. "We support the GHS library in its quest to spark the love of reading in our teens."

Last year, local shoppers raised $1,792 for the GHS library by making purchases at the Pioneer Bookshop in December. GHS Librarian Chelsey Kolpin hopes there will be an even larger donation this year due to the consolidation of the two bookstores at the new downtown location.

Shoppers can expect extended holiday hours in December as part of the fundraising.
