November 2-10, Grinnell College will play host to internationally-renowned vocalist, Christine Duncan. During her time on campus, she will work with music department students to develop vocal and improvisational skills.

Global envoys are poised to help fellow students connect to educational global opportunities, no matter their interests and backgrounds.

The IDEAS grant will fund a site-based workshop for faculty and staff to deepen and expand Grinnell’s offerings in course-embedded travel for semester courses across the curriculum.

Course-embedded travel allowed students in Professor Mark Lavers course on country music to meet with industry insiders and get an inside look at the subject.

The grant will support her project entitled "Maya Testimonies in the Visual History Archive: Transcribing, Translating, and Accessing Survivor Life Histories."

Todd Armstrong, professor and chair of Russian, Central European, and Eurasian Studies, answers five questions about foraging, chickens, food, and culture.

This award is given to an individual who has served the study abroad field through significant professional and volunteer work. The awardee is chosen by IES Abroad’s Nominations Committee, composed of study abroad professionals from top-tier colleges and universities across the United States. Recipients are exceptional leaders in the study abroad field whose careers have been distinguished by outstanding achievements and contributions.

With her Mentored Advanced Project adviser, Professor of Russian Todd Armstrong, Nora Leahy is exploring how Grinnellians can use the Global Kitchen for coursework and other community-building activities, not only on campus, but also throughout the town of Grinnell.

Varela, a class of 2021 graduate from Las Vegas, Nevada, is a French major with education licensure. She has native proficiency in Spanish along with her academic study in both French and Spanish. She plans to study for a Master of Arts in bilingual-bicultural education.
