Ashley directs the Grinnell Careers in Education Professions program and advises students interested in careers in all education-related fields, including (but not limited to) research, teaching, policy, and nonprofit work.
A native Hoosier, Ashley graduated from DePauw University as a classics and English literature double major. Proving wrong her mom’s belief that those majors will “never get you a job,” Ashley taught high school English for five years before moving to Chicago to pursue a master’s degree in higher education administration and policy at Northwestern University. For Ashley, her job at Grinnell is the perfect combination of her two passions: education and working with college students.
Ashley dedicates her free time to reading and searching out good places to eat in Iowa. She loves to bake and aspires someday to open a soup, salad, and dessert restaurant named Souperb. Until then, she will happily watch shows on HBO, cuddle with her Boston terrier, and spend time with her significant other. Her favorite thing about Grinnell is that the students are just as quirky and passionate as she is! Also, where else do the trees have knitted scarves or does the student union have a swing set?
