My research area is related to green and sustainable computing. I investigate optimization methodologies to improve the energy efficiency of multi-core systems. To improve the system energy efficiency, these methodologies statically/dynamically change the voltage and frequency levels of cores or clusters of cores during applications runtimes. Data, used for analyzing the efficacy of the methodologies, comes from profiling multi-threaded applications on state-of-the-art energy and performance simulators. I compare the energy efficiency impacts of these methodologies on the applications using different energy efficiency metrics that trade off system energy saving and application execution latency caused by the voltage/frequency changes.
