Residence Life Coordinator
Nick Hanson’s hometown is Burlington, Vermont, but he grew up between Burlington and North Port, Florida. Nick attended Baldwin Wallace University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. He then went on to Florida International University and earned his Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration. Nick is a huge NASCAR fan and in his free time loves going to races whenever possible. He has been to 9 tracks in 8 different states. He says the proximity of the Iowa Speedway to Grinnell was a huge plus of coming to work here. He loves racing in general and since moving to Iowa has been able to experience open wheel racing and dirt racing for the first time. Nick also has a passion for photography, especially sports photography. He has been a credentialed photographer for two minor league baseball teams. An excellent opportunity that has come out of this was becoming friends with minor leaguers who are now playing in Major League Baseball.
For Nick, The best part of Grinnell College is that he loves working with a student population that is truly passionate about different areas of their life, from their academic pursuits to creating change in the greater world. He says as he goes through his first year in the RLC role he is excited to get to know the diverse student body here and what their different paths and stories have been to get to their common identity of being a Grinnellian.
His main responsibility is being a Residence Life Coordinator for Jamaland cluster- James, Main and Cleveland Halls; and Food & Art Houses.
