Damian Kelty-Stephen

Assistant Professor

Cognitive performance depends on the interactions of many processes at many scales nested in time and space. Damian Kelty-Stephen's work investigates these interactions in terms of time-series fluctuations in perception, action, and cognition. Fluctuations may seem "noisy" and meaningless at first glance, but on closer inspection, they bear an intricate temporal structure crucial for the flow of information through a biological organism. Damian attempts to understand goal-directed behavior of organisms embedded in environments through a statistical-physics framework.
