Jean A Ketter

Professor Senior Faculty

Before earning her Ph.D., she taught high school English and journalism for eleven years. Her teaching courses at Grinnell are

  • EDU 101: Educational Principles in a Pluralistic Society
  • EDU 211: The Politics of Education Assessment
  • EDU 250: Differentiating Instruction Seminar
  • EDU 341: Theory and Practice in the Teaching of Language Arts
  • EDU 460: Teaching the Young Adult

In addition, she supervises student teachers, she has conducted research in uses of technology in schools: the teaching and assessment of writing, the use of critical multicultural approaches in the teaching of young adult literature, teacher narrative of identity. In her research she focuses on social justice concerns and explores the effects educational practices have on student access to and engagement in learning.
