What I love about my territory: In general, I love traveling the country to find future Grinnellians who may or may not know it yet: people from every place and walk of life who tend to be similarly bright, genuine, open-minded, and oriented toward growth. On the road, I especially enjoy interviewing students at Caffe Nero in my hometown, winding mountain drives between schools in New Hampshire, visiting Literati Bookstore in Ann Arbor, and racking up several hundred tolls across Chicagoland.
What I love about Grinnell: It’s an intentional community full of the most genuinely good people I have ever met in one place. Also, I met my long-term partner here when we were students!
Hobbies/activities: I enjoy cooking, hiking, word games, exploring new cities, anything design-related, meditation, and yoga (I am training to become a certified power yoga instructor this fall). Coffee and conversation — with or without a cat on my lap — are up there, too!
Advice about searching for schools: When thinking about fit, consider where you’ll feel comfortable enough in your own skin to seek out mentors and take healthy risks — two key predictors of fulfillment and success, in college and beyond.
Advice about applying to schools: Take advantage of opportunities to connect with your admission counselor. Especially at a small, holistic-review college like Grinnell, my ability to advocate for you is greatly increased if I can put a face to a name and understand why you are interested in Grinnell.
