Applied Music Associate

Where are you from? (Grew up – hometown?)

I grew up in St. Joseph, Mo.

What do you like best about Grinnell College?

I love the wonderful students I am privileged to get to know, sometimes for four years! And the opportunity to play a fantastic organ!

Where did you attend school? College(s)? Degrees?

I earned my Bachelor of Music from Drake University and Master of Arts from Valparaiso. I also have a Colleague certification from the American Guild of Organists.

What are your main areas of responsibility here at Grinnell College?

I provide music for ceremonial events such as but not limited to the Medallion Ceremony, Grinnell Prize Ceremony, Baccalaureate, Commencement, play for worship services, memorial services and weddings, and do occasional recitals both in Herrick Chapel and in other communities. I promote the organ and this organ in any way I can, and to give lessons to organ students.

What do you like to do in your free time? Hobbies?

I love to read all kinds of books and to travel, but my primary hobby is quilting. I belong to a Quilt Guild. I also belong to the League of Women Voters and participate in many activities with them. I also play in the bell choir at my church.
