Megan Crawford
Assistant Dean & Director of Advising & Exploration

Megan leads the Center’s counseling, advising, programming, and outreach efforts that target exploratory students. She oversees the College’s Externship and Internship Programs, which are designed to help students acquire experience, sharpen their skills, clarify their career goals, and broaden their professional networks beyond Grinnell. Megan also assists students with developing individualized, viable action plans to explore all of these goals—and more.

A native Iowan, Megan hails from Charles City, a small town similar to the size of Grinnell. Following a year abroad in Malaysia as a Fulbright English teaching assistant, she first came to the Grinnell College community as a residence life coordinator for Clark, Rawson, Gates, and Langan Halls from 2006 to 2008. Before returning to Grinnell as the Center’s internship coordinator in 2011, she served as a professional life coach; a mental health counselor; and as the executive director of the United Way of Jasper County, a local Iowa non-profit organization. Megan holds degrees from Loras College (BA in psychology and sociology) and Ball State University (MA in counseling psychology).

Megan enjoys family time by playing at local parks and taking walks with her two young sons and their dog, Chloe. She also likes to read, sing, and make collages in her free time.
