Lisa Henderson has taught private voice at Grinnell College since 1992 and taught at Drake University for many years. She holds a M.A. in vocal performance and pedagogy from the University of Iowa and a B.A. from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Ms. Henderson has made numerous concert and oratorio appearances in such works as Bach’s B minor Mass, Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity, Brahms’ A German Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, and Handel’s Messiah. She has been an Iowa and Central Region winner of the National Association of Teacher of Singing (NATS) Artist Awards Competition. Her operatic performances have included Baby Doe in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Pamina in The Magic Flute, and Susannah in The Marriage of Figaro. Students of Ms. Henderson study a varied repertoire of music including art song, operatic arias, jazz, and popular music, all based upon the needs of her students. She has taught students of all ages and musical experience.
