Elizabeth Hill

Hill

The Center for Prairie Studies is delighted to welcome Elizabeth Hill to the college as the new Outreach Coordinator for the Center and manager of the Conard Environmental Research Area (CERA). Elizabeth began her employment on March 1 and has moved into Larissa Mottl's former office, #204 Macy House (1205 Park Street). We hired Elizabeth in December, about the time she finished the coursework for her M.S. in Biology from the University of South Dakota (which will be awarded in May), but she asked us if she could start in March to allow herself time to finish the second edition of her book, Hiking Iowa: a Guide to Iowa's Greatest Hiking Adventures (originally published in 2005 by Falcon Field Guides), and we were happy to accommodate her wish. Elizabeth earned her B.S. in Environmental Science and Biology from Drake University, where she was a student of Dr. Tom Rosburg's, and worked for four years as the ecologist at Whiterock Conservancy near Coon Rapids, Iowa. Hailing originally from Iowa City, Elizabeth has traveled around the country and the world, but always, as she says, "lands back in Iowa." She enjoys playing outside with her dog, Aesop (pictured with her at a fen in northeast South Dakota), growing, preparing, and eating good food, and reading books. If you run into Elizabeth on campus, in town, or at CERA, join us in welcoming her to Grinnell.
