Russell “Russ” Motta is from El Center, California. He earned his Associates in Science from Imperial Valley College in Imperial, California. He later went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado. He began working for Grinnell College in 1994. Russ enjoys several hobbies, which include fishing, hunting, camping, and woodworking.

Officer Motta’s primary responsibility at Grinnell College is ensuring the safety of the campus community through patrol operations, incident response, and calls for service. When he was asked about what he likes best at Grinnell College, Russ said that he enjoys working with the students.

The department of Campus Safety, 641-269-4600, plans and implements safety operations, programs, and initiatives in support of the College’s mission and vision. Located on the corner of East Street and 10th Avenue, Campus Safety is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when school is not in session.
