What I Do
As administrative assistant to Joe Bagnoli, vice president for enrollment, I spend much of my time crunching numbers for internal and external constituents, developing and administering the operational budget, assisting with information systems, and delving into the deep recesses of my many years at Grinnell (21 years!) to provide historical perspectives (and a certain amount of levity) to the many questions asked by my colleagues. Meeting and working with so many wonderful colleagues from all corners of the country is one of the very best things about working at Grinnell.
What I Did
I grew up on a small farm about an hour away from Grinnell and received a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa in those crazy '70s. I followed my husband, who was a high school band director for 33 years, from one Iowa school to another, changing my career along the way. I've worked in retail sales, printing and editing, and mortgage banking. We finally landed in Grinnell in 1990 and never looked back.
What I Love
I sit on the board of the Grinnell Area Arts Council. With that comes a self-induced obligation to volunteer whether it be costuming for a theatrical production, dry walling and painting the new performance space, organizing props and costume storage, or selling tickets and ushering at events, to name a few. I also play trumpet in the Grinnell Municipal Band. My husband and I are the proud parents of one daughter, Samantha, whose constantly-evolving interests include theatre, sustainable agriculture and home brewing .
