Mary Phipps

I began my career at Grinnell College in 1987, in the Office of Admission, where I served a variety of roles in the operations area over the next 29 years. In 2016, I moved to my current position in the Office of Financial Aid, specializing in data and processes related to student applications for financial assistance and handling student loan requests. By far the best part of my transition to financial aid has been the opportunity to interact more meaningfully with prospective and current students and their families.

I was born and raised in Millerton, NY, moving to Tacoma, WA with my family as I was entering high school. I relocated to the Grinnell area in 1986 with my husband, Dave, who was born and raised in Grinnell. I earned my Associate’s Degree at Tacoma Community College and my Bachelor’s at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my family, which will always include at least one dog.
