Exploratory

At Grinnell, preparing for one’s future is simply part of the student experience. Every incoming first-year and transfer student is assigned an adviser from the Exploratory Career Community. This is the adviser you will work with to:

  • explore your interests, values, and strengths;
  • develop the tools to focus and deepen your exploration process;
  • make connections with others, including CLS and campus resources as well as alumni, recruiters, and other helpful stakeholders;
  • identify relevant experiential learning activities, including shadowing, campus employment, students groups, among others; and
  • learn about and ultimately transition to one of the CLS’s pre-professional Career Communities.

Choosing Your Major

Your career path does not have to be determined by your major, or it can be—it’s up to you! Whether you think you know what you want to major in or you have no idea, the best place to start is by reflecting on who you are and what you want to do after graduation.
