The Center for Careers, Life, and Service exists to empower students and alumni to live, learn, and work with meaning and purpose. We know that families play vital roles in the lives of their college students, and we are excited to partner with you as your student explores and prepares for their future.

How to Support Your Student

Explore What We Offer Students

CLS Advisers collaborate with alumni, faculty, employers, and other external constituents to mentor and holistically support all Grinnell students and recent alumni. Your student will have an assigned adviser in the CLS beginning in their first year. This individual will be a key member of your student's network at Grinnell, and they will help your student make the most of the vast programming and resources available in the CLS.

Our five complementary teams (Exploration, Career Communities, Global Fellowships and Awards, Service and Social Innovation, and Employer Relations) deliver an array of services and programs through workshops, symposia, treks, interview days, and more. We encourage you to explore our website for specific information on these opportunities.

Encourage Your Student

The first step is empowering your student to meet with their CLS Adviser. If your student is hesitant about scheduling an appointment because of their lack of clarity, please assure them that we are here to support all students in all stages of the process. They can schedule an appointment on Handshake or by calling the office (641-269-4940).

The CLS communicates with students in many ways, including a weekly email from our office that highlights upcoming deadlines, programs, and opportunities. Please encourage your student to read this information. If you are interested in keeping up with our office, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.
