BAX Opening Reception and Awards
Thursday, April 18, 4–6 p.m.
Juror Luther Davis ’93 will present awards and speak about the Bachelor of Arts Exhibition featuring creative work by third-and fourth-year Grinnell College art students. Luther Davis is a master printer and the printshop director of Powerhouse Arts; teaches printmaking at Parsons School of Design,; and was co-founder of Forth Estate, a fine art publisher focused on producing limited editions with emerging artists. In a typical year, Luther collaborates with around 80 artists and prints 300 unique projects. Refreshments will be served.

Concert: Lifetimes of Water: Phase 2 by Eric McIntyre
Thursday, April 25, 7 p.m.
Composer and hornist Eric McIntyre presents a program of original compositions inspired by water. Highlights of the program include world premieres of new works for video, digital audio, and live performers, featuring videos from the Boboli Gardens in Florence, Italy, and the Snake River system in the western United States.

Dancing Canvases: A Dance and Art Collaboration
Friday, May 3, 4 p.m.
Dance performance interacting with student art pieces and community-building through art. Directed by Lisa Shen ’24, performed by Ileah Bonzi '25, Julie Durning '26, Kelly Banfield '24, and Lisa Shen ’24, inspired by Moffett Award-funded research. This performance is one of three at three venues. The other two are at Grinnell Area Arts Council on April 24 at 4:45 p.m. and Flanagan Theatre on May 9 at 7:30 p.m.
GCMoA Outreach: Summer Street Park Cleanup and Art in the Park
Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Join us for a morning of community service with your neighbors to take care of and enjoy Summer Street Park! Clean-up activities will include working in the Giving Garden, weeding and maintaining the natural playscape, and trash pick-up in the woods and creek area. All supplies will be provided. Art in the Park activities for kids and adults with Tilly Woodward from 10 a.m.–noon sponsored by Grinnell College Museum of Art. Edible plant walk by Jordan Scheibel of Middle Way Farm at 11 a.m. Locally sourced produce and food from Grinnell Farm to Table available to take home. Prairie plant and native shrub giveaway from Middle Way Farm. Free lunch at noon served by the Rotary Club, including grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and brats from local farmers, chips, and drinks. Vegetarian option available.
Gallery Talk: Marina Busby '24

Marina Busby ’24 will give a gallery talk about Romancing Ruins, the exhibition she curated in Burling Gallery, which is on view until May 18, 2024.

MAP Presentation: Feminine Fixations: Exploring the Idealization and Devaluation of Women's Bodies in Art by Stella Lowery ’24
Thursday, May 9, 4 p.m.
Studio Art major Stella Lowery ’24 will discuss her artwork and themes of gender and sexuality. Lowery’s work dissects the hyper-femininization of women’s bodies and attempts to visualize relationships of women. Lowery will delve into four bodies of work of different mediums to grapple with questions about how the female body and experience is portrayed in art.
