Studying the mathematical sciences develops your skills in logical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and data analysis — skills germane to many disciplines. Our students frequently participate in national competitions, student seminars, summer research, and internships. Our faculty members have strong research careers and actively engage students in their research. Majors pursue careers in pure or applied mathematics, statistics, operations research, actuarial science, finance, law and more. More than 40% of our recent majors attended graduate school.

Marc Chamberland, professor of mathematics and statistics, explains why in an animated TedEd video.

Jessi L. Smith will deliver Scholars' Convocation on diversity and inclusivity in STEM fields.
