Get to Know Grinnell

Campus visits are one of the best ways to decide whether Grinnell is a good fit for you. A visit gives you the opportunity to do more than glance through images or hear secondhand about Grinnell's excellence. You can explore the entire campus, meet our incredible students, and discover some of our hidden gems.  You can feel what it's like to be a Grinnellian. Don't be shy — "prospies" are a perennial favorite on Grinnell's campus! All interested students should schedule a visit with the Office of Admission.

Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the academic year.

Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the summer months.  Please see the visit calendar for available Saturday visits.

Academic Year Visits

We offer summer visits for prospective students and their families.  However in order to fully experience Grinnell’s academic and social life, we recommend that you visit while classes are in session. You’ll have the opportunity to see what it is like to be a Grinnell student by living and learning alongside current Grinnell students.

Prepare for Your Visit

Take a moment to consider the options that are listed above that might be available for your visit to campus.  Once you have an idea of what you would like to do while on campus, please register through the campus visit calendar.  Once you begin to complete the form some options may not be listed because they may not be available that day to include in your visit.  Visit requests can be made online.  If you have questions about scheduling please contact the Office of Admission, Visit Coordinator at 800-247-0113.

In order to best optimize your time on campus please make your reservations at least 48 hours in advance of the day you’re thinking of visiting.  Overnight requests will need to be made 10 business days in advance of your arrival date. 

Grinnell College wants to make appropriate accommodations for your visit. If you are a student with a disability or you are traveling with a family member with a disability, please mention your needs when you register.

Group or Counselor Visits - If you are planning a group visit (10+ people—prospective undergraduate students & group managers only) or you are high school college counselor who would like to visit Grinnell, please email admission@grinnell.edu to set up an information session and a tour for yourself or your group. Please include the following in your email: 

  • A brief description of the group with the exact number of people that will be attending 
  • The date and time you would like to arrive on campus

We will contact you with an itinerary for your visit to Grinnell.
