Russian Department

Russia is culturally rich, diverse, enigmatic, vast. Students of Russian embrace the subject in all its complexity, mastering the language and exploring Russian culture through off-campus study, Russian Table, the senior seminar, and courses in history, political science, gender and sexuality studies, the fine arts, philosophy, and film,  and the related RCEES concentration. Majors go on to further study or to careers in education, diplomacy, international business and law, technology, social justice, and more.

Mentored Advanced Projects encourage a more holistic view of history.

Exhibition features collages created on all 747 pages of Tolstoy’s famous novel.
