Grinnellians take citizenship seriously.

Grinnellians maintain a philosophy of self-governance for our campus community. The way we see it, you’re an adult, fully capable of holding yourself and others accountable. As a Grinnell citizen, you also have a strong voice in shaping campus policies — from residence life to admission to administration to culture and events.

But self-governance doesn’t mean you’re on your own here. Compassionate, highly trained staff members stand ready to advise you if the going gets rough — or if you just have some questions to confront. Students informally mentor each other, too.

At Grinnell, self-gov means we’re all in this together.
