At 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 6 in the Burling Library Lounge, please join the Office of Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations and the Grinnell College Libraries for a Faculty/Staff Research Talk.

During this event, four of the College's new faculty members will give brief overviews of their research areas. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about our new colleagues' interests and expertise, with the goal of opening the doors for community and collaboration.

We will welcome the following presenters:
  • Xiao Chen (History): “Was the Qing (1636-1912) a Colonial Empire?”
  • Julian Rios Acuña (Philosophy): “Colonial/Postcolonial Elites: Structure Behavior at the Unthinkable Distinction Between the Law and the Nonlaw”
  • Wendy (Xiaoxue) Sun (German Studies): “The Crisis of Cosmopolitanism: Jewish Migration in China and Contemporary Refugee Studies”
  • Putu Hiranmayena (Music): “Our Spirituality is Noisy: Contending Balinese Creativity with Neo-Settler Colonial New Ageism”
Refreshments will be served.
