Grinnell College Director of Athletics and Recreation Greg Wallace has announced Suzanne Scheef has been named interim coach of the Pioneers' softball program.

Scheef, who will also serve as assistant coach for Pioneers' women's basketball team, brings a vast amount of softball coaching experience to Grinnell. She most recently was head coach at McPherson College in Kansas, where she started up a new program, and also served as head coach at Berea College and Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky.

Her experience isn't limited to softball, though. Besides having coached softball and basketball, Scheef also served as head volleyball coach at Northeast Community College in Nebraska and Iowa Lakes Community College.

Scheef did her undergraduate studies at Wayne State College in Nebraska and Missouri State Southern University, and gained her master's degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science at Pittsburg State University in Kansas.

"The Grinnell College athletic department is very fortunate to have Suzanne serve as the interim softball coach and assistant women's basketball coach," said Wallace. "It is great to have someone with college head coaching experience working with our student-athletes."
