During the conference he presented joint work with majors Tolu Alabi '13, Brad Gordon '12, and Russel Steinbach '12. The talk Fast k-Selection Algorithms for Graphics Processing Units and a submitted paper by the same name are the result of work begun during a summer MAP where the group developed two new algorithms for finding the order statistics on a GPU.
