The Mentored Advanced Project (MAP) Definition
Faculty Development At Grinnell College
Grinnell College provides a supportive atmosphere for faculty and facilitates their development, both in teaching and scholarship, during their entire careers. Below are outlined a number of our efforts in faculty development.
This site, produced by the dean’s office, answers faculty questions about new faculty, department chairs, leaves, grants, academic governance, and committees. The dean’s office helps ensure faculty members have what they need for their work, addresses challenges and problems, helps advance ideas for positive change, and helps manage the academic budget. We support individual professional aims while looking out for the quality of each academic program and the diversity represented on campus.
Students who will be presenting their final MAP research results at a conference should fill out the following according to the travel guidelines. Students may apply for funding for one calendar year after completing the MAP. Students may receive funding for one conference presentation.
Please complete this Summer Workshop Proposal Form for consideration by the Instructional Support Committee. In addition to identifying the type of summer workshop proposed, requests describing a summer workshop should include the expected outcomes of the workshop, the anticipated audience for the workshop, and all of the potential dates the workshop may be offered. Proposals for workshops that are of broad faculty interest and address practical pedagogical issues are particularly encouraged.
