Renée Bourgeois Parsons ’96
Director of the Mathematics Laboratory
Renee is a 1996 graduate of Grinnell College with a major in mathematics. She started her career in mathematics education while a student at Grinnell by working as a grader, Math Lab tutor, Real Problems tutor, and student secretary for the (then) Mathematics/Computer Science department. Since graduating, she has continued to pursue her interest in mathematics education by continuing to tutor and write questions for standardized tests. She also earned her Secondary Teaching License and Master of the Arts in Teaching from Simpson College, which led her to the classroom teaching 6th through 9th grade over the course of six years. Renee is excited that the trajectory of her career has brought her back to the halls of Noyce (or as she will always call it “The Science Building.”)
In her free time, Renee enjoys reading books, primarily biographies and historical fiction; crocheting baby blankets and scarves; and traveling with her husband and three children. She also enjoys using her deductive reasoning (honed by reading Nancy Drew mysteries as a child) to solve logic puzzles such as ken-ken, kakuro, nurikabe and island puzzles.
