Monica Chavez-Silva
Vice President of Community Engagement and Strategic Planning
Monica Chavez-Silva directs Grinnell’s Office of Community Partnerships, Planning, and Research, which plays a key role in economic development and external relations with local and statewide partners. This includes assessing campus and community needs, collaborating with college and community leadership, overseeing local grant-making activities, and stewarding outreach programming. She is a national leader in campus-community collaborations with an emphasis on network leadership and currently serves on the board of the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation, on the Advisory Council for the Anchor Institution Taskforce, as a Commissioner for the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, and on HUD’s Higher-Ed Engagement Think Tank. Monica holds a BA from Harvard College.
