Jin Feng
Orville and Mary Patterson Routt Professor of Literature
Jin Feng is Professor of Chinese and Japanese, and Orville and Mary Patterson Routt Professor of Literature at Grinnell College.
She teaches all levels of Chinese language courses and on Chinese literature and culture. Specific classes include “Chinese Women: Past and Present,” “Modern China through Film and Fiction,” and “Chinese Food for Thought.”
She has published four books in English: Tasting Paradise on Earth: Jiangnan Foodways (University of Washington Press, 2019), Romancing the Internet: Consuming and Producing Chinese Web Romance (Leidon and Boston: Brill, 2013), The Making of a Family Saga: Ginling College (SUNY Press, 2009), The New Woman in Early Twentieth-Century Chinese Fiction (Purdue University Press, 2004), three books in Chinese: Chihuo zhi shu 吃貨之書 (The Foodie’s Book, Jiangsu Fenghuang Wenyi, 2020), Huaijiu yu xiandai dushi 懷舊與現代都市 (Nostalgia and the Modern City, ed., Fudan University Press, 2018), Chen Hengzhe zaonian zizhuan 陳衡哲早年自傳 (Chen Hengzhe’s Early Autobiography, trans., Anhui Education Publications, 2006), and numerous articles in both English and Chinese.
She is currently researching and writing on the institutionalization of creative writing in China.
