Madeline Hunsicker

Madeline (she/her) joins Grinnell as a fourth year counseling psychology doctoral student at the University of Iowa. Madeline graduated with their B.A in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Colby College, and her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Madeline primarily uses narrative therapy practices in both group and individual therapy. Madeline is particularly interested in providing space for clients to highlight preferred ways of living, identify discourses that interfere with these stories, and deconstruct problem stories that contribute to their distress. Madeline also uses uses cognitive therapies as relevant for clients.

She has experience working in community mental health, hospital, and college counseling settings. Madeline has clinical and research interests in eating disorders, issues of power and privilege, and psychotherapy process. In her free time, Madeline loves to garden, sit by a fire pit, and spend time with friends.
